ABOUT

I began a regular practice of drawing and painting nearly 30 years ago with Phil Sylvester at The Drawing Studio in Portland, OR. It is there I discovered I could trust my impulses. That a particular mark or brush stroke made with commitment to what I was seeing and feeling could lead me to a richer and more complex understanding of my subject. By using transparent layers of color and levels of abstraction, painting is the medium for discovery of what captivates me about my subject. It is an opportunity to learn elemental truths about self and other.
The well of felt truths seems limitless.
